Featured Session { Megan & John } | Naples Beach Mother & Child Photography

First let me apologize for the lack of sneak peeks lately. Things have been quite busy in the land of lifeXpressions and, unfortunately, the sneak peeks are usually the first thing to get put on hold so I can concentrate on shooting and editing sessions. So, for a switcherooni I plan to sprinkle a few ‘Featured Sessions”  over the blog, hopefully in the middle them I’ll be able to pop in and share a few ‘Sneak Peeks” too. :)

I have to tell you all, I have had so much fun doing the Mother & Child sessions. The older my own children get, the more I realise how important these memories and how important it is to have photographs to tell the story of your relationship with your children. Too often Moms are behind the camera snapping the moments or worse yet, too intimidated by the camera to step in front of it and just be themselves with their children. To be perfectly honest, it does my heart good to know that the images captured during these sessions will become their cherished memories years from now. Mushy stuff aside, they really are just plain FUN for everyone involved.

I met this Megan and John recently on a chilly Naples beach. The slight chill in the air didn’t phase John, not even for a second! This little guy was so sweet and playful with an infectious belly laugh that made me giggle more than once. And, as you can see, he and his Mommy both share the same beautiful smile that somehow managed to brighten the entire Southwest Florida coastline.

The Mother and Child sessions have gotten so much positive feedback, I’ve decided to extend the offer through Mothers Day. Stay tuned to the blog for more details!

Sneak Peek { Kaitlyn & Kenzie } – Sanibel Island Family Photography

It was certainly beautiful on Sanibel today, I couldn’t help but pull out the camera and snap off a few shots before my clients arrived. I think the planets aligned just perfectly for this family. When I arrived on the island it was hot and oh so bright. Just look at that big beautiful blue sky surrounding the old Sanibel Lighthouse….

The sun managed to make it’s way behind a few clouds as I was shooting which opened up a rare opportunity for me to capture a few shots of the family with the old lighthouse in the background. Normally the sun is right next to the lighthouse and much to bright to be suitable for portraits (unless of course I was working with a team of assistants and had those portable strobes I’ve been eying *hint*hint*). ;) Today I had the pleasure of working with a very a lovely family vacationing all the way from Canada. While we were chatting I learned that tomorrow is actually Mom’s birthday!! So, happy birthday Mom! I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek into our session, the girls were delightful! I can’t wait to share the rest of the images with you all! :)

Sneak Peek, Dario and Kristina Visit Naples Beach

Meet Dario and Kristina – full of spunk and energy and their session proofs certainly showcase that! Dario was such a ham I swear he looked at me like I had two heads when I started teasing him and said, “Betchya can’t splash me!”. ha ha It was all in good fun, it’s HOT this time of year, I’ll find any excuse to get in the water!

Kristina is my beautiful beach ballerina, isn’t she lovely? Mom wasn’t entirely sure about leaving her long curly hair down but I’m so glad she did, at least for part of the session. It’s the beach after all and long wavy beach blown hair just seems natural. I just adore, I mean seriously LOVE the shot of her running away and laughing! The small web-sized image can’t do it justice, this playful expression and the beautiful skyline deserve to be enlarged. I’m thinking maybe I need a new canvas sample!

What’s even more fun is that they brought along their Grandma and Grandpa to get in on the action. I love sessions with extended family members, especially in this type of setting where they can play with the children and just do what they do best as opposed to sitting and smiling at the camera the whole time. I know as time goes by and I pull out the photo album I’ll have tons of snapshots showing me what my parents look like, but the images I truly treasure are the ones that show WHO they are and how much my children love them, the amazing connection that spans generations. To this day I get goosebumps when my little girl runs to my Daddy and he swoops her up in his arms. So much strength and wisdom- I’m getting all sentimental just thinking about it now.

Well Mr & Mrs L. I hope I was able to capture a bit of that for you! :)

It’s a big world out there

When you look toward the horizon and see the beautiful Sanibel coastline you suddenly feel very small. It really is a big, big, world! This little sweetie is Eliana, she was visiting the island with her family from Kentucky. She was such a little doll too. Very expressive.

Call me crazy but I simply adore the little ‘tude she’s giving in this shot.

Aw, now here’s a glimpse of that sweet smile. :)

Seeking refuge from the cold

And who can blame them? These adorable little girls got a break from the chilly Wisconsin winter when they came for a visit to Sanibel Island. What a change I’m sure it was, from playing in the snow to getting portraits taken on the beach. Snow birds are more than welcome here. Granted, I was born in Michigan but I haven’t lived there since I was a small child and I just can’t imagine that kind of cold. Brrrrrr
