Every photo session is unique. Each is an opportunity can be a “teaching” moment for me. But over the years there have been some consistent fashion “Dos” and some definite “Don’ts”! So this week’s Trendy Tuesday is a behind the camera view of how some fashion trends just may not work for your photo session. This week I will focus on the ladies in the photos and in coming weeks we will address more family fashion Dos and Don’ts!
Wearing a sleeveless top or spaghetti straps can be beautiful and cool but can often be a DON’T. We all wish we had arms that muscular like Madonna’s but even Madonna gets ridiculed for her arms in photos! DO wear a ¾ length sleeve. It is a great length for anyone one’s arms, it is season-less and more importantly it is sliming on every body type!
DON’T wear socks with your shoes. If you haven’t had time to get those pretty toes pedicured (I know it is hard to find the time). DO slip your toes into a fabulous low heal or just sport your bare feet, the sand or water can cover up those non-pedi toes.
DON’T try to get tan the day before the photo shoot. Being orange and “oompa loomp-y” is not pretty. And DON’T let me see your tan lines from the day before either! DO just come as your natural tone, I promise “natural” is the memory you will be happiest with! Not the tan lines and orange tones.
DON’T try every new “trend” in a photo shoot. Yes we all love OPI’s “Here today….Aragon Tomorrow” black color. But maybe not for a photo shoot. So DO try on OPI’s “Bubble Bath” on toes and fingers. This shade has been consistently voted the best pale pink color ever! And if you didn’t have time for that mani/pedi, this color will work even if you have to do the emergency in-home mani/pedi!
