Naples, Sanibel, Captiva, Marco Island – This photographer gets around!

So…well.. oh em gee…when was my last blog update with session images? Wait. Don’t answer that! This has been one CRAZY busy summer both with regards to lifeXpressions work and my family. Where do I start? I guess I’ll start with a recap the events of my summer then round it out by posting some of my favorite recent session images. This post is going to be jam packed with photos but should you want to see more, don’t forget to visit our Fan Page on Facebook for more of my favorites and some funny outtakes too!

We added a new member to the family, meet our newest lovable Golden Retriever – Roxy! Sandy (our other golden retriever) is being a very good Momma to the new addition and everyone just loves her to pieces. Take a peek for yourself, can you blame us?!

Olivia (my not-such-a-baby-anymore-little girl) decided to try her hand -or would that be feet?- at Dance Camp over the summer and had a blast! Michelle from the I Love To Dance Studio was absolutely wonderful to her. Olivia is hoping to continue with her dance classes on the weekends now that we’re back in school. I reluctantly admit that even I have been found bouncing along to the Jonah’s Brothers with her. Shameful I know but dang those songs are kinda catchy!

Nick (my middle guy) decided to take up Tae Kwon Do at Tae Kwon Do United over the summer and both of them have elected to pursue this sport after school. Nick is gearing up for his first belt test and very proud of his accomplishments so far. Olivia will be joining him for her first classes soon and well, we’re just kinda hoping she won’t ‘share’ her new found knowledge on her brother at home. That child can be awfully sneaky though! hehe

I said my goodbyes and I love yous to my oldest son who traveled to New York to start college this year. Yes, I cried. LOTS. I’m not ashamed to admit it. In fact, I still get a little teary just thinking about him. We protect them, love them, cherish them…then they learn to speak and we can’t wait for some peace and quiet but when the time comes to say goodbye it’s just never that easy. I’m very proud of my handsome young man though and I am certain he is going to do wonderful things in the great state of New York! In fact, I’m already planning a trip to visit him this fall so he can show ME all the sights for a change. :)

I’ll share a few snapshots from the day he left, grab myself some tissue, then come back to finish this post.

*sniff*sniff* Okay. Drying my tears again. Let’s get back to the reason you visit this blog, session highlights! I wasn’t kidding when I said “this photographer gets around”, I’ve been to almost every beach between Fort Myers and Marco Island over the summer with several sessions at my favorite beach in Naples and on the beautiful Sanibel and Captiva Islands. When I wasn’t up to my elbows in sand and salt water I was photographing the overwhelming number of newborns that came my way this summer. It certainly has been busy, but tons of fun too. See for yourself!

And that’s a wrap folks! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Trendy Tuesday: It’s a plaid, plaid world!

With back to school on the brain, I am inspired by uniforms! Old school plaid can add great texture and fun to your photo outfits. For today’s Trendy Tuesday I selected some easy to wear, easy to find outfits for your teenies to tweenies. All of these outfits can be found in your local malls or on-line at Crazy8,  The Children’s Place, Gymboree and Aeropostale.

These outfits make a great photo and I think they will all be worn again and again without complaints – a huge bonus! A Children’s Place has some adorable boy outfits that have added a plaid layering button down or a simple pair of plaid shorts to some solid colored tops and bottoms. Pair these outfits with sister’s outfits from Gymboree. Gymboree, like The Children’s Place, does a great job coordinating all the pieces of an outfit together so you don’t even need to think. Buy the skirt, top, jacket and all the accessories are available to match. Knee socks are so fun on a little girl, if she will wear them, by all means add them to the photo, especially with pink clogs – how cute.

For your older kids, try Crazy 8 and Aeropostale for your shopping. Okay, we know they really want the sweatpants at these stores *grin*, but try to get them to wear jeans or a skirt for the session. Add plaid into your outfit selections by layering it over their favorite solid or graphic tees. Coordinate plaids with younger siblings for a cohesive look.

Lots of stores have these looks available for any budget. Even adding one new piece of plaid clothing to your child’s existing wardrobe will add a new look that is picture worthy. Good luck to all my little and big models going back to school. Come by and show us your outfits and your growing smiles with a LifeXpressions Session.

Trendy Tuesday: Sunshine and Rainbows

Today I feel like sunshine and rainbows!  So my Trendy advice today is to dress in coordinating bright colors that reminded you of beautiful rainbows and the sun shinning bright. I know I will see lots of smiles and happiness for your next LifeXpressions session in these clothes.

Check out the adorable coordinating girl outfits I found from Twirls and Twigs. I love how these girls match without being in exactly the same dress. The rainbow color trims and accents add for so much pop and fun. If mom or big sister will be in the photo let her wear a dress from Gypsy 05. This brand has lots of  bright colored maxi dresses that will coordinate with the colors in the Twirls and Twigs dresses. If brother or Dad are willing to smile with the family in the picture have him wear this Ralph Lauren striped shirt. This example is very bright, but Ralph Lauren’s website (or even your favorite local TJMaxx) carry lots of striped shirts from bright to muted. Just imagine how beautiful these colors will look on the white sandy beaches and against the bright blue water.

Your family will smile and shine like sunshine and rainbows while looking fabulous in these wardrobe selections!

Trendy Tuesday: If you must wear white!

Lots of my Trendy Tuesday posts over the last few years have been about encouraging many of my clients to add color, accessories and patterns to their wardrobe choices for a photo shoot.   I still am encouraging all those “trendy” ideas. But today, I just feel like being traditional too. I am well aware that sometimes wearing white for your beach photo is still a favorite choice. So just because I can, I thought I would share some of my favorite choices for a white dress for the ladies today.

All of these 8 style choices are from Victoria’s Secret. I love all these selections because these looks work for so many body types and ages of woman. And of course all of these dresses come in beach white! I do believe that finding a white dress can be hard and at times very frustrating. White is not the easiest color to wear. But look through the Victoria’s Secret dress collection (all 21 pages!) many of the styles are available in different colors and white too. I of course will still encourage you to add some color with; a bracelet, a cocktail ring, a necklace or even a scarf as in the tank/skirt outfit below, to your outfit.  So if you MUST wear white, find something you love and that you will be comfortable in and love your outfit in the photos for years to come.

Sparkle and Dazzle in the Red, White and Blue!

Get ready for the 4th of July with a fun red, white and blue photo session! Here are some outfits that the whole family can “sparkle” in for the holiday! I love these outfits because everyone can coordinate, look patriotic and still be stylish!

The good news is that there are lots of available options on the market this time of year for red, white and blue clothing. With lots of choices on sale too! Even Old Navy has an entire section of their website dedicated to American Clothing! In my searches for today’s Trendy Tuesday blog, I found these adorable outfits at Janie & Jack in the “All American Style” section. Your girls will look so cute in a blue dress or red halter and plaid skirt. And because Janie & Jack is so great, they have coordinating sibling outfits for brother. Try your little boy in coveralls or a bigger boy in a plaid shirt and a polo.

Mom try this beautiful dress from The Gap. I really love how this dress works with the plaids everyone in the family is wearing. It is so unexpected but ends up looking so beautiful with everyone. A simple necklace or bracelet will make you look effortless, mom. Also from The Gap (I love one stop shopping!)….dress your man in shorts and a plaid button down. Again, an effortless look that pairs perfectly with the family.

Enjoy dressing for an All American Session for the 4th of July with LifeXpressions!
