An assortment of blog ramblings that run the gamut from neat to unique and in some cases just plain odd!

Have camera – must swim!

Our totally awesome diving adventure in the Caribbean last December lead to the death of my poor little point & shoot. Unfortunately the underwater housing I’d purchased failed at some point and the camera was toast. Some might say that I’m a little picky when it comes to photo quality (gee..ya think?) so finding a new point and shoot for those quick snaps of the kids is well, a little challenging for me. That was until yesterday! Introducing the Olympus Stylus 850 SW…

Cute little bugger isn’t it?! Not only is it totally adorable but this little guy is rugged enough to withstand a five foot fall and WATERPROOF up to 10 feet. I really didn’t hold much hope for the image quality but with such unique features I felt compelled to at least try it out for a while. Well, what can I say? I’m seriously impressed. I foresee some very FUN photos in our future together. :D

Here’s a few more snaps from a family get together today.

A Must View Story

My sister sent me this through email the other day, it’s one of those feel good stories that will move you to tears. I’ve watched it at least 100 times now, it’s AMAZING!

What’s In Your Wallet?

During one of my late night, surf-the-net-until-you-can’t-keep-your-eyes-open-anymore adventures I stumbled on a link to Capitol One’s new photo credit cards and I thought to myself, “Self – You have a Capitol One card. You really should get a card with one of the kid’s photographs on it. As a photographer, you’re practically obligated to have one. You must order it now.” :D

Okay, so by now you’re probably thinking I’ve lost my mind. I can’t help it, this little card is seriously cute! I was even impressed by their ability to send me a card that wasn’t completely washed out or riddled with color casts. Good job C1! *snicker*

You know why they do it don’t ya? The cuter the credit card the more apt you are to show it off by using it on purchases, it’s so obvious I know. But – it’s still a cute little credit card.

So, what’s in your wallet? ha ha ha

This day in history

Perhaps I’ll have something profound to post later as I reflect on the last thirty-five years and what I’ve learned. For now, I’ll just sum it up to say that I will take thirty-five over twenty-five any day of the week.

Curiosity got the better of me, want to see what was happening in the world on the day I was born? History is fascinating to me, it is a constant reminder of the fact that life truly is a journey, not a destination.

This Day In History, June 17th, 1973.

Have a great day! :)

Beach + Fisheye = Fun

Considering these images are from this morning’s session on Wiggins Pass in Naples, this is also a bit of a sneak peek for little Miss Berklie and her family. Berklie LOVES the beach and the water so what better place to document her sweet personality at one year old? :)

I purchased this fun little Sigma 15mm fisheye lens back in December (tax write off ya know) and I hadn’t had a chance to play with it even once until today. Some of my friends might even call that lens neglect and call in the CPS (Camera Protective Services). ha ha I have to admit, I’ve been spoiled by my Canon L glass to this point so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from the Sigma line and the fisheye aspect was totally new to me. New toys are great for pushing me to try new perspectives and reaching a bit farther artistically. They challenge me to look at the setting in a new way and I love a good challenge!!

I’ll start with these lively, slightly distorted and completely adorable shots of the little water baby…

Oooo fliggity…

Doesn’t that just sound fun?! A few days back I received an email for a new boutique clothing store for children. Always on the hunt for something new and creative I read further…”Clothing Inspired by a Child’s Imagination” hmmm, sounds interesting. As I came to the end of the email I realized this store was the brainchild of one of my own clients, how exciting!! A wonderfully talented and fun mommy & daddy with two gorgeous girls whom I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a few times now. Their site caters to the imagination of children, giving them fun, colorful, clothing that is sure to bring a smile to their face (& yours!) Grab your superhero cape and fly on over to fliggity for a colorful treat! Just in case you forgot your flying cape at home, clicking the image below will take ya there too! ;)
