Trendy Tuesday: It’s a plaid, plaid world!

With back to school on the brain, I am inspired by uniforms! Old school plaid can add great texture and fun to your photo outfits. For today’s Trendy Tuesday I selected some easy to wear, easy to find outfits for your teenies to tweenies. All of these outfits can be found in your local malls or on-line at Crazy8,  The Children’s Place, Gymboree and Aeropostale.

These outfits make a great photo and I think they will all be worn again and again without complaints – a huge bonus! A Children’s Place has some adorable boy outfits that have added a plaid layering button down or a simple pair of plaid shorts to some solid colored tops and bottoms. Pair these outfits with sister’s outfits from Gymboree. Gymboree, like The Children’s Place, does a great job coordinating all the pieces of an outfit together so you don’t even need to think. Buy the skirt, top, jacket and all the accessories are available to match. Knee socks are so fun on a little girl, if she will wear them, by all means add them to the photo, especially with pink clogs – how cute.

For your older kids, try Crazy 8 and Aeropostale for your shopping. Okay, we know they really want the sweatpants at these stores *grin*, but try to get them to wear jeans or a skirt for the session. Add plaid into your outfit selections by layering it over their favorite solid or graphic tees. Coordinate plaids with younger siblings for a cohesive look.

Lots of stores have these looks available for any budget. Even adding one new piece of plaid clothing to your child’s existing wardrobe will add a new look that is picture worthy. Good luck to all my little and big models going back to school. Come by and show us your outfits and your growing smiles with a LifeXpressions Session.

Trendy Tuesday: Sunshine and Rainbows

Today I feel like sunshine and rainbows!  So my Trendy advice today is to dress in coordinating bright colors that reminded you of beautiful rainbows and the sun shinning bright. I know I will see lots of smiles and happiness for your next LifeXpressions session in these clothes.

Check out the adorable coordinating girl outfits I found from Twirls and Twigs. I love how these girls match without being in exactly the same dress. The rainbow color trims and accents add for so much pop and fun. If mom or big sister will be in the photo let her wear a dress from Gypsy 05. This brand has lots of  bright colored maxi dresses that will coordinate with the colors in the Twirls and Twigs dresses. If brother or Dad are willing to smile with the family in the picture have him wear this Ralph Lauren striped shirt. This example is very bright, but Ralph Lauren’s website (or even your favorite local TJMaxx) carry lots of striped shirts from bright to muted. Just imagine how beautiful these colors will look on the white sandy beaches and against the bright blue water.

Your family will smile and shine like sunshine and rainbows while looking fabulous in these wardrobe selections!

Trendy Tuesday: If you must wear white!

Lots of my Trendy Tuesday posts over the last few years have been about encouraging many of my clients to add color, accessories and patterns to their wardrobe choices for a photo shoot.   I still am encouraging all those “trendy” ideas. But today, I just feel like being traditional too. I am well aware that sometimes wearing white for your beach photo is still a favorite choice. So just because I can, I thought I would share some of my favorite choices for a white dress for the ladies today.

All of these 8 style choices are from Victoria’s Secret. I love all these selections because these looks work for so many body types and ages of woman. And of course all of these dresses come in beach white! I do believe that finding a white dress can be hard and at times very frustrating. White is not the easiest color to wear. But look through the Victoria’s Secret dress collection (all 21 pages!) many of the styles are available in different colors and white too. I of course will still encourage you to add some color with; a bracelet, a cocktail ring, a necklace or even a scarf as in the tank/skirt outfit below, to your outfit.  So if you MUST wear white, find something you love and that you will be comfortable in and love your outfit in the photos for years to come.

Trendy Tuesday: Jewel Tones for June

I recently saw a beautiful photo of a mom and her daughters all dressed  in solid jewel tone dresses. It made for a beautiful photo and I thought I would share the Trendy idea with my clients. I have added a bit more “trendy” to my wardrobe selections and have chosen all dresses that are one shoulder too. The great part of a one shoulder dress is that everyone looks hip but not too cheeky.  Also you can minimize accessories because your one bare shoulder can be your best accessory. Be careful of tan lines if you try out this look! Add a fun bracelet and face framing earrings and you are look will be complete. If dad or brother’s join the photo. Simply put them in their favorite jewel tone solid polo or tee. Pair with short or slacks. I can’t wait to see all of you in your jewel tones for June.

Search for these items by designer or style because Spring and Summer clothing has started to go on sale for many on-line retailers!

Little girl’s dress is from Saks Fifth Avenue and is called the One Shoulder Ella Girl dress. Retails for $57.00.

Young girls and or tween dresses are from Lulu’s. Retails $32.00.

Mom’s purple one shoulder dress is from Shop Bop designer Haute Hippie. Retails for $255.

Mom’s one shoulder hot pink maxi dress can be found at Net a porter and is from designer Halston. Retails for $346.

Dad’s shirt is from Ralph Lauren. Retails for $80.

Trendy Tuesday: Romantic Island Chic

What is more beautiful than an Island sunset? For your next photo shoot, dress your children in a beautiful collection of clothes that remind you of your vacation Island sunsets! I love the Spring/Summer collection from designer Room Seven. This season’s clothes are very whimsical, romantic and full of vintage fabrics. Designers have made sure both your boys and your girls have the best of everything for their photos with these clothes.

I have chosen to feature some of the most fun and wearable outfits that can work in your backyard, the beach, or anywhere in between for your next session. I love that this season the baby clothes are just as adorable, yet stylish, like big sister’s clothes. The outfits for the boys could work for young boys or as old as 6 or 7 and look great with sister too.

I have selected lots of photos for today’s Trendy Tuesday because I just couldn’t decide which outfit I liked the best. I thought the model shots from Room Seven also offered some great ideas for our next session. Lots of appropriate props and accessories that are simple but add to the photo without taking your focus away from the adorable subjects.

Mom or Dad if you will be joining the photo session too, keep your outfits simple, romantic and something you would wear for an evening sailon a yacht. These outfits are works of art on their own, put your child in them and they will become masterpieces!

See you at our next Romantic Island Chic photo session!

Trendy Tuesday: Royal Wedding Style

I couldn’t help it this week, I had to include some “Royal” fashion in my blog! I was completely obsessed with the Royal Wedding last week. I loved all the fairy tale princess parts of the media coverage but the fashion was simply amazing. So this week I dedicate my Trendy Tuesday blog entry to all things Royal.

As you shop for your wardrobe for your next LifeXpressions session, I know that you will easily find clothing inspired by the recent Royal Wedding fashion.  Start with some lace…I love the idea of simple lace over-lay sun dress. Elegant and regal like Kate Middleton. This dress is for mom or big sister in the photo session. Pair the dress with some beautiful earrings for some understated glamour. Like Kate, sister Pippa looked fabulous in her stylish dress on wedding day. Mom dress in this stylish suit appropriately named “Pippa” from Bloomingdales. The sleek style of this suit will be sharp with your little girls in yellow and blue outfits.

The color yellow looked so beautiful on the Queen. Let your little one wear this beautiful perfect yellow dress from Saks Fifth Avenue. The touches of lace will coordinate perfectly with the lace in the sun dress that mom or sis is wearing.  Mrs. Middleton also added her own style in a beautiful blue outfit. If yellow isn’t the best color for your little one, try this blue dress from Nordstroms. It also has a touch of lace over-lay to coordinate with everyone.
