Wearing green may not be for everyone, don’t fret many of these fashion choices come in other bright colors this season. The lesson in this Trendy Tuesday is to be bold with this season’s fashion forward color  finds. Shopping for brilliant bold color clothes is easier than ever this spring. Color block and everything in spring colors is invading the stores with colored shoes, denim and more. For your next session try some of these fashion ideas that are just as simple as khaki’s and white shirts.

For mom or teens a colored shoe can be fun and unexpected. So many styles to choose from in bright colors, flats or wedges and everything in between. I love these wedges from Shoebuy.com. Pair with a green sweater and some dark blue jeans or skinny flat front navy shorts to complete the look. The wedges and the cut of this sweater will be stylish and slimming on all body types. The sweater is from Francesca’s and comes in a rainbow of colors. For your little girls the Gap has lots of clothes in bold colors. A cotton dress with a sweet navy accent can be worn from baby to tween and look age appropriate for any age. If you can find a romper in your chosen color that would be so fun for an active little girl. For your boys young to “older” have them wear a pair of striped shorts from Gap with his favorite navy colored shirt. Pop the collar for your preppy boy for an adorable look.

Have fun with your fashion, keep everyone coordinated without perfectly matching. I can’t wait to see all my families that “go green”.

Yes, the Hilfiger family in these pictures are wearing all clothes from one brand, but anyone could take several ideas from these photos and still pull off an amazing picture. Love the colored pants on both the men and woman, that is so popular for spring and will be easy to find at any retailer. What a fun family photo at the tennis court or playing bocce ball, all the props really make these photos amazing. Even without everyone wearing white in the pictures each of these photos still feels like a vacation, relaxation and reminds of the beach or a warm climate. Show your family these photos  as an alternative to the “all white” outfit beach photos, you might be surprised at how much they get into the fun fashion!

So today in my search for something fabulous for Trendy Tuesday, I decided on a whim to search in Pinterest, typing in “family photo inspiration”. Wow, thousands of ideas (not mine) popped up. So many ideas… some funny, some really interesting, but mostly adorable families with great fashion ideas, that I am sharing with you. I love how these families remembered all the concepts I inspire you with each time I write a Trendy Tuesday blog. Check out how each photo shows families that are coordinating and not matchy, matchy. Pops of  color like a pair of yellow shoes. Photos when families do something interesting, like paint or mud, love it (such a Modern Family Family Portrait Episode)! I even love the mix of solid colors and all the really simple yet fabulous ideas.

My best advice for your photo card is don’t make it too complicated. Don’t try to over glitz, over coordinate, over dress and especially don’t over do your outfits and accessories. Make sure that relaxing, smiling and enjoying your family are the most important accessories you bring to your session. You will be happiest with your photos when you arrive less stressed about the process. The fun stuff that makes the card special will fall into place. I love the idea of Santa hats and candy canes. Scarves and hats are always fun and can coordinate even the least matched outfits.  I know I have lots of creative clients out there!

With a little advance preparation your card can perfectly represent your family moment. Preparation will help you to avoid many common holiday fashion mistakes and look your best in your card.

Last week while checking out at the grocery this magazine cover caught my eye. Yes, it is Kate Gosselin and her 8 children which would catch any mother’s eye…and of course it is People Magazine, every woman’s guilty pleasure in the grocery line too! But what really caught my attention was the styling of the photo of the Gosselin family.  Especially because there are lots of people to photograph together, hence make them all look good together. I know that white tops and jeans or khakis are a “go to” very safe choice for your next large group beach session, but I really liked the addition of the blue in this photo and thought it would work perfect for any family. The blue reminds me of the water, but would still show up nicely on the white sand.

Everyone looks happy and great in their outfits in this photo even though everyone isn’t wearing the exact same outfit or exact same color. I am sure People had expensive stylists to help with the outfits, but you can steal the Gosselin look for free just by shopping in Publix and reading this blog! You don’t have to choose blue to make this concept work but shades of another color will look great too, pink, green, purple would be fun.

These outfits make a great photo and I think they will all be worn again and again without complaints – a huge bonus! A Children’s Place has some adorable boy outfits that have added a plaid layering button down or a simple pair of plaid shorts to some solid colored tops and bottoms. Pair these outfits with sister’s outfits from Gymboree. Gymboree, like The Children’s Place, does a great job coordinating all the pieces of an outfit together so you don’t even need to think. Buy the skirt, top, jacket and all the accessories are available to match. Knee socks are so fun on a little girl, if she will wear them, by all means add them to the photo, especially with pink clogs – how cute.

For your older kids, try Crazy 8 and Aeropostale for your shopping. Okay, we know they really want the sweatpants at these stores *grin*, but try to get them to wear jeans or a skirt for the session. Add plaid into your outfit selections by layering it over their favorite solid or graphic tees. Coordinate plaids with younger siblings for a cohesive look.

Lots of stores have these looks available for any budget. Even adding one new piece of plaid clothing to your child’s existing wardrobe will add a new look that is picture worthy. Check out the adorable coordinating girl outfits I found from Twirls and Twigs. I love how these girls match without being in exactly the same dress. The rainbow color trims and accents add for so much pop and fun. If mom or big sister will be in the photo let her wear a dress from Gypsy 05. This brand has lots of  bright colored maxi dresses that will coordinate with the colors in the Twirls and Twigs dresses. If brother or Dad are willing to smile with the family in the picture have him wear this Ralph Lauren striped shirt. This example is very bright, but Ralph Lauren’s website (or even your favorite local TJMaxx) carry lots of striped shirts from bright to muted. Just imagine how beautiful these colors will look on the white sandy beaches and against the bright blue water.
