Trendy Tuesday: Summer Memories

Summer Memories

Mother’s Day is only a few weeks away! So treat yourself to a photo memory with your children and LifeXpressions.

Start by; purchasing yourself this adorable butterfly dress from Top Shop and accessorize with your favorite earrings or the ones I found at Couture Candy…this will make you start smiling! Skip the shoes you won’t need them, just add some lip gloss, let your hair be wind blown!

Your kids will love their outfits too because they can get wet in the ocean and still look completely adorable. Janie and Jack has created the cutest butterfly collection this season for girls and pair it with the stunning little “man” wear for your tiny men. Don’t forget all the matching accessories they really make the outfit complete.

If you have an older boy, have him wear his favorite solid blue swim trunks with a pop of color on top to match sisters beautiful butterflies on her suit or dress. I love a Ralph Lauren polo on the boys; they always make for a sharp photo.

I just can’t wait to see all the fun photos of my families kissing on mom, getting her wet in the Ocean or burying her feet. What a wonderful way to start the summer with some beautiful memories of the family.

Trendy Tuesday: Spring Break

It seems like every person has come to Florida in the past few weeks to enjoy our beautiful weather and beaches for a great Spring Break. We are so happy to have visitors and to help them capture their amazing memories (with a LifeXpressions session) and share some fabulous fashion with our Trendy Tuesday blog!

While looking for beautiful accessories for today’s Trendy Tuesday post, I stumbled upon Polyvore. A website dedicated to fashion trends and styles. As an added bonus pictures of so many styles have been coordinated by many fashion stylists on-line…each sharing their favorite outfits AND sharing where you can buy everything.

So as I began to blog, I was looking for what to wear with the amazing beaded bracelet from Nordstrom seen in the photo. What I found, was someone on Polyvore loved the bracelet as much as me and paired it with fashion for any of my ladies and Spring Breakers.

I share with my readers this amazing site for all your shopping and coordinating of style needs. I can’t wait to see what other style pallets you discover on Polyvore, the possibilities are endless. Enjoy a new favorite fashion site!

Trendy Tuesday: Egg-stra, Egg-stra.

This just in! Get the latest fashions for your Easter shoot. Hop on over to LifeXpressions for your next photo session and we will have Egg-stra fun photographing your adorable kids for Easter.

Holidays can sometimes be a big deal for photos. And the pressure is on to decide exactly which outfit you will like best in a photo. Just your luck, I always take the time with you to look at your wardrobe selections and an outfit change or two might just be “egg-sactly” what we need to get a smile. To make sure your little ones are stylish head to toe here are some ideas that can give you  a “beachy” look, a “fancy” look, or the “funny bunny” look. Each style might create a new mood, a special smile or sweet glance.

For your look that makes you remember those sunny and carefree days at the beach hunting for seashells, catching a wave or building a sand castle try a bathing suit. I know it sounds simple, but so many people dress up for a beach sessions and yet a bathing suit may be the very best outfit for your little ones. Try swimsuits for both boys and girls from brand Floatimini. You will be pleanstly suprised at how adorable these suits look on the beach.

It is always sweet to capture your bathing beauties in something special like a frilly dress or a tie. I love the look of a soft pink tulle dress for your girl from Luna Luna Copenhagen or a shortall from Petit Ami at Best Dressed Child for your boy. They will look so cute hunting for eggs or just simply carrying an Easter basket collecting sea shells on the beach.

Newsflash! You don’t have to be serious in every picture. Some of my biggest and most adorable smiles often happen in exactly the outfit you didn’t plan on photographing your child in! A “funny bunny”  or “little chick “might be just what you need!  Put your funny bunny costume on your girl, she will love the little tail and fluffy ears. This outfit can be found at Tutu Couture. Or on either child get silly with a chick costume from Chasing Fireflies. Don’t forget the Easter baskets for these outfits.

You can make up your own themes for your Easter session, these are just a few fun ideas. I can’t wait to see all the Egg-stra special outfits you will choose!

Trendy Tuesday: The Look for Less

Spring has sprung and it is time to dress the part! I can’t wait for all my beautiful sessions coming up this season. So are you thinking of sending a Spring card this year? Or a photo opportunity at the Easter Egg hung? Here is a great selection of clothes that each piece will cost you less than $100! Get these looks for less…but dress like you spent so much more!

I love these kids all dressed coordinating for anything Spring. All of these outfits can be found at Crazy8.com. Check out how every little detail is accessorized and perfect for a picture. Big sis even has high heals on with her dress…too cute. Notice how although everything coordinates each child has their own style and individual outfit.

Mom and Dad get a part of the photo session too. The kids have lots of colors and patterns so a little less may be more for Mom and Dad. Mom’s dress is from Piperlime at a steal of $59.00. It is a perfect dress all on its own with just a touch of pink accent to coordinate with her girls. Add the same bubble white beads as your daughter for a fun match. Dad will look great in this simple sweater and pair of slacks from The Gap.  Both pieces less then $100 too. Add a bright pink oxford under Dad’s grey sweater if you want to give him some color.

These looks are simple and easy to find but really can work and look amazing in a photo. Hope these looks have inspired you to shop, save money and look great doing so!

Trendy Tuesday: Fashion Trend-Dip Dye

Fashion is all about liveliness and color, so I am loving dip dyed clothes these days! Clothes that have been dip dyed remind me of the ocean. I often think how beautiful a family coordinated in pieces of dip dyed clothing will look with the ocean as the background. So I found a few pieces that I love right now that are soft, trendy and will look great for your next LifeXpressions session.

For mom try this crystal blue dip dye dress from Banana Republic . It is an easy dress that can be worn again for an afternoon lunch or an evening out. I love the model’s shoes, also from Banana Republic, because they are a great color that will  make anyone’s legs look longer.  This look doesn’t even need any jewelry because the dress is fabulous on its own. Put on some make-up and air dry your hair for a great beach look.

Let dad coordinate with the orange/pink color in mom’s dress when he dresses. An easy polo from JcPenny will work and  if he never wears again you will have only spent $20! Dad should coordinate the polo with navy long shorts or dark jeans rolled at the ankle. There are lots of Dip Dye polos on the market, choose one that coordinates with the colors that your family will be wearing for their photo.

A young girl will love this frilly lace dress from Gap. It isn’t dip dyed but don’t go overboard with the trend. She will be simple in this dress. So spice up her outfit with a straw hat. You can even search on You tube, I am sure there is a dip dye instructional video out there and you could add a bit of color to the straw hat using your new “craft!”  Be sure to leave your little girl barefoot for the photo so her carefree style will shine through in the photos.

Your little man will love an oxford with the sleeves rolled up and these comfy beach pants from Janie and Jack. You can coordinate a white top or tee with the pants if you don’t think “pink” will be his style. I love these little brown flips from Janie and Jack as well. But barefoot is just as cute.

If you have an older daughter or a mom that just doesn’t want to wear a dress. I found this tunic on a site called This Next. Tunics are a great look for anyone. Especially all the colors in this top it will be flattering on anyone.

Remember don’t “over do it” with the dip dye fashion trend, but have fun with it too. I can’t wait to see all your beautiful fashion trends for your next LifeXpressions session.

Trendy Tuesday: Looking Fab in Prints

Fabrics with prints have been a huge hit this season and last.  They have been seen on celebrities and all over the runways.  However, pulling off the look can be quite difficult and no one wants to commit a fashion faux-pas, especially in a photo that you want to display for a long time. Here is a simple, but adorable and fashionable look that you can wear for the photo shoot and then in your daily wardrobe without committing a fashion crime.

If you’ve never worn prints before or you’re shy with prints, try a subtle look like this starting with the Judith March dress (judithmarch.com). A great dress that makes you feel “beachy” white but with a punch of prints in the flower accent. I love the floral and stripe fabric combinations. You can use the colors in these fabrics to dress the rest of the family.

For your girls I found almost the exact fabric that is in the Judith March dress for mom that an Etsy seller is using to make dresses in almost any size you will need. So don’t be afraid of the floral fabric and choose your favorite style for each of your girls in this beautiful pink/red floral fabric. The Etsy store is called manmaku, here is the link to the Etsy.com store front. Any style will work and look perfect in the photo.

For your boys the Gap has put together some wonderful ensembles for Spring. I love how this outfit picks up the colors in the girl’s dresses and even the stripes in the fabric in mom’s flower on her dress. But it also gives your boy that edgy print he will love on his rock star tee. He will still be “all boy” even with his touch of redish/pink shorts.

Dad may not want to stand out either (with a print) so don’t worry he can be dressed in solid-colored items that have the same color pallet as everyone else in the photo. He can coordinate with mom with his khaki shorts and the colors in her flower accessory. The denim shirt is a nice color to add in for dad in case it is a cool day, anyone in the photo can add a denim jacket and still make the “whole look” work for everyone. Dad’s look can be found at JCrew.

Don’t forget to add accessories. Mom can wear a fun bright colored bangle bracelet. Stackable bracelets are so fun and available at lots of price points this season. The girls can accessorize with hair bows or simple pearl bracelets. Your boys can sport converse tennis shoes in any color from Target and dad can wear his favorite red shirt underneath his denim shirt.

So don’t be afraid of a “print” for your prints! Using these subtle fabrics can really make a statement in your next photo session with Lifexpressions!
