Sneak Peek { Zoee } | Cape Coral Newborn Portraits

In just over a week I’ll be leaving, on a jet plane…but I will be back again! I’m just going to visit with my dear friend and fellow photographer Connie Groah in Annapolis for some much needed R&R. Of course one can’t really run away for some R&R without thoroughly wearing herself out before hand. So in keeping with that theory I’ve managed to schedule myself back to back sessions for the next ten days along with mountains of proofing that must be tackled before I can take off on my little adventure. Not to worry, Kelly will be available to answer questions and inquiries while I’m running around like a mad woman. I hear she’s got something totally cute in the works for this coming week’s Trendy Tuesday too!

Last week I traveled to the middle-of-no-where which, according to google maps is somewhere in North Cape Coral. *grin* The plan was visit with, and of course photograph, one very sweet two month old baby girl. Of course the instant I met little Zoee I knew it had been worth the drive, isn’t she precious?! I just had to pop in and sneak peek a few for Mom and Dad as soon as I could. :)

Sneak Peek { Taiya } | Estero Newborn Photographer

Last week I had the opprotunity to spend time with Taiya at her Estero home. Such a beautiful little lady and so well behaved. It just so happens Taiya’s Daddy is in the watermellon industry so capturing his little cutie amongst the juicy watermellons was pretty high on Mom’s list of must-have-shots. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how I’d be able to pull this one off, I’ve photographed babies on guitars, babies on bookshelves, babies on the mantel, but watermellons was a first for me. Thankfully little Taiya was more than happy to pose for the shot, I think she was even giving the watermellon a big hug. ha ha So cute! :)

The Naples Pier { Sophia & Jack } | Naples Sibling Portraits

I’ve been feverishly editing sessions this week in an attempt to play catch up from my recent jaunt to Tallahassee but as I finished the edits from Sophia and Jack’s recent portrait session at the historic Naples Pier I couldn’t help myself, I simply fell in love with this shot and wanted to share it with you all…

Doesn’t it just fill your heart with ooey-gooey sweetness? I love it in color too but the black and white is so timeless to me it seemed to suit the picture perfectly. I know the Naples Municipal Pier is a special place for Mom and Dad too so I made an effort to include it in several of the images from our session together.

Ok, now that I’ve shared some sister/brother sweetness I think it’s only fitting for me to share one from the other end of the sibling spectrum. Gosh, I seem to be getting a lot of these lately. *giggle* They make me laugh every time, this is childhood ya know? You can’t have nice with out a little bit of naughty. ;)

Jack, Jack, Jack. You sweet little stinker you! He tried really hard to play shy at the start of the session. Of course it didn’t take long for me to discover his favorite game was one I like to call ‘Bury The Photographer’. Yep. See that grin, it was completely at my expense. Oh well, what’s a little sand in your pants for the sake of the shot?

Sweet little Sophia. She’s famous now, though she has grown a bit since her nationally published book debut. :) Sophia was photographed by me on this very same beach a few years back and landed a two page spread in the Big Book of Babies along with several other wonderful clients of mine. Isn’t she adorable? Yes, she was covering me with sand by this point too. :P

Alright, back to editing I go…

Sneak Peek { Judson & Paisley } | Fort Myers Newborn Photographer

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, one of my all time favorite parts of this ‘job’ is the people, the families that have chosen me to document those special moments in their lives time and time again. I’m posting tonight to introduce one of my newest JOY Babies, Judson. Big sister Paisley just recently graduated from JOY program herself, she was always such a charmer during each of our sessions together so of course I am eagerly anticipating the next year with her baby brother!

Paisley’s turning two next month so of course I had to capture a few photos of the birthday girl! Don’t you just love her dress!? Besides being totally cute, the dress also holds a lot of sentimental meaning for Paisley’s Mom since she wore it herself at the same age. What a brilliant idea to bring it out during our session together!

They say one of the things that sets the professional photographer apart from the hobbiest is the ability to recreate an image at any time. Largely because the professional photographer shoots with intent. The images captured are not meerly lucky shots. If asked, the photographer can recreate an image because he (or she!) has an understanding of the fundimental elements of lighting and composition required to make it happen. This is not to say that every image captured can be reproduced, obviously there are other factors to take into consideration, but in a controlled environment it should be a fairly simple task to accomplish. Are you wondering why I brought this up in the middle of a Judson’s newborn photographs? Apart from the fact that I am often asked to recreate images for clients based on something they fell in love with in my portfolio, Judson’s Mommy also hoped I’d be able to recreate an image I took of  Paisley as a newborn almost 2 years ago. Considering I hadn’t seen the exact image she wanted in quite some time I was really pleased with how similar they are. Hopefully Mom will be happy with the results too! :)

Sneak Peek { Alexia } – Naples Newborn Photography

One of my favorite things about being an on location photographer is the challenge that comes from walking into a new home for the first time, assessing the lighting, the decor and of course the parents and being able to incorporate who they are into the session itself. Mom and Dad have such a playful fun relationship I truly enjoyed getting to know them a bit and watching them together. I’d like to introduce to you their new bundle of sweetness, Alexia. 10 days old and lifeXpressions first 2009 newborn! Isn’t she just perfect?!

Shortly after I arrived at their Naples home for their maternity session I learned that Dad is a doctor and a musician and that music is a pretty big part of their lives. I think the stream of guitars and the music room upstairs was my first clue, some days I can be very perceptive. *giggle* Seeing all of the instruments immediately set my brain in motion wondering how I could incorporate their love of music into their portraits. At times it was a bit of a challenge but we did manage to capture it in both sessions, hopefully Mom and Dad will agree with me that it was worth the effort! :)

Sneak Peek { Hayden } – Fort Myers Newborn Photographer

I’m going to post Just one more sneak peek before I take off for a R&R with my family at the Magic Kingdom. :

I just could not sneak away without giving this family a little peek to hold them over through the Thanksgiving holiday. I’m thinking perhaps little Hayden is destine to become a great explorer, you see, sleep was the last thing on this little guy’s mind the day of our session. That’s okay though, he was super cute regardless! Thanks for being so patient Mom & Dad, I promise, lots of good things to come upon my return.

Have a safe and happy holiday everyone!

Sneak Peek: Welcome Marlee

I’m going to sneak this peek bright and early because I happen to know there is a certain Aunt on her way to Florida today who has been stalking the blog waiting for these. I just couldn’t let her come to Florida without giving her a little time to prepare herself for the incredible cuteness she’s about to see face to face. I mean little Marlee is like pure sugar, so sweet she makes your teeth ache but whatever you do you just can’t get enough of her.

Kisses for Marlee from her big brother Maddox. {awww} Maddox is two and man is he quick, thank goodness my trigger finger was pretty quick too!

Peek-a-boo I See You!

It really shouldn’t surprise me that Marlee is as amazing as she is. I mean I’ve been photographing this family for more than two years now and it’s easy to see beauty and sweetness are in their genes. Go ahead, see for yourself: September ‘06 {Maternity Session}, November ‘07 {Maddox turns ONE}, August ‘08 {Waiting for Marlee}
