So where have I been and why is the blog so quiet?! I promise, I really do have a good reason for the scarce blog entries – BABIES!

Well, okay not just babies although they do happen to have taken up most of my May and June session dates. Before the babies came the vacationing families and totally fun beach sessions. You’ll have to stay tuned and hope that I get back in here to post some of those images. The outtakes are hysterical and the rest, well, just great times with families on our beautiful Southwest Florida Coastline. And can I just say, WELCOME BACK SNOWBIRDS! I know that I am just tickled pink (as are most of the hotel managers I’ve spoken to recently) to see so many families making their way back to the Naples area for their vacations, some for the first time in two years.

Yes, busy is good! Unfortunately (or would that be fortunately?!) just when I thought I’d have a chance to come up for air I was hit with the Southwest Florida Baby Boom! What were all you crazy kids up to last fall?? Never mind, some things are better left unsaid! I have to admit, I am thoroughly enjoying all the squishy baby goodness coming my way so I thought I’d share some of the adorable little ones I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over the last few weeks in one post. Sneak Peek { Colton } | Miromar Lakes Newborn Photographer

Happy Sunday everyone! Hey, I’ve got an interesting tidbit for you, at least it was news to me. Of course most of us realize the South end of Lee County is growing at an amazing rate. This is really not all that surprising to me considering I live here myself and know first hand what an awesome location this is to live in! Seriously, less than 10 minutes from THREE major malls, fine dining, entertainment, speedy access to I-75…ahh…I simply LOVE Estero. Oh goodness, I think I got sidetracked – HA! The interesting new fact I had for you is that the beautiful Miromar Lakes community has actually become it’s own CITY right smack dab in the middle of Estero and Fort Myers. It’s now officially called Miromar Lakes, Florida. That’s kinda neat isn’t it? Surprisingly this was my first visit to the community city and I’d have to say, with their grand fountains, amazing golf course, 5 star restaurant and yep, even their own private beach I think it’s safe to say they’ve earned the right to be called their own city.

Okay, now that I’ve done my civic duty and informed you all of the hot new place to be, let’s get back to the gorgeous little guy being featured today shall we? What a cute little peanut!! It was just about two weeks ago that I met Colton and his proud Mommy & Daddy. He was a mere seven days old when I photographed him but oh so alert. Once I went through my standard ‘newborn whispering’ routine (as Kelly so aptly calls it) he settled right in and was game for just about anything. Take a peek for yourself, isn’t he just precious?! I’m always envious of these babies with a full head of hair considering my three were as bald as could be until they were well past their first year.

Last week I drove to Naples to photograph sweet baby Teagan and her family. Let me tell you, this little girl melted my heart instantly! That HAIR. those cheeks and OH MY GOODNESS those cubby little arms and legs. Every inch of her was simply PRECIOUS!! See for yourself…

Sneak Peek { Kana } | Cape Coral Newborn Portraits

I’m sharing this sneak peek a little out of order because I know Dad may have to leave the country on business before he gets a chance to see all the session proofs. Hopefully this little peek will tide him over until his return.

Yesterday I traveled to Cape Coral to photograph the most adorable 3 day old baby girl, Kana. What a little sweetheart she was, and such a good little model! Of course it helps that she was still so new, at one point I even commented to Dad how wonderful it was that she naturally preferred to be positions that I normally have to work just a little to achieve once the baby is a week old. We’d try to get her into one spot and she’d just flop back into a smooshy little ball (shown above). Just goes to show how quickly they adjust to life outside the womb and having the ability to really s-t-r-e-t-c-h out.

I always encourage Mom to use the session time to relax and enjoy a little break while I work. When Mom stepped away for a quick shower I seized the opportunity to capture a few adorable photos of Daddy with his little girl. I’ll share one for now, the others I’m saving as special treat for Mom when she views her proofs.

When I first arrived Mom wasn’t sure if she was feeling up to being photographed. I’m so glad she changed her mind, she looks just stunning and I have no doubt these special moments of the three of them together will be images she’ll cherish as she watches her little angel baby grow.

What could possibly be cuter than one squishy newborn baby?? Why TWO newborn babies of course! I really do love photographing multiples. Sure, it can be a little more time consuming than your average newborn session but that really just means you get twice the cuteness when all is said and done.

Meet 5 day old Palmer and Parker of Naples. These little guys were completely adorable and such good little models for me. Not only did they let me capture some seriously sweet portraits of them snuggled up together, they actually took turns waking up so I could capture a few solo portraits for Mom too.

I really enjoy having the opportunity to break out my macro lens to capture all their little parts. At only five days old these two were still very brand new complete with peeling fingers and toes that were still trying to adjust to life outside of the womb. We all know how quickly these little ones grow, especially during that first year. I’m so glad I was there to capture those little details, now Mom and Dad will be able to look back and remember those wrinkly little fingers and toes long after the boys head off to college.

Alright, I hear you giggling at me. I get it. Yeah, right now college does seem like it’s light years away but it really does sneak up on you faster than you might think. Trust me on this one, my oldest turned 18 just last week! I swear if I close my eyes and concentrate I can still hear his little boy laugh and the thump-thump-thump of him running through the house playing hide and seek. >sigh<

My point; Cherish the details. Absorb every inch of your children and revel in the mundane. As time passes you start to realize it’s those little, often overlooked, details in life that you miss the most.

Last week I traveled to Naples for a newborn session with 7 day old Bryce and his wonderful parents. As you can see by their expressions above, they are completely smitten with this handsome little fella already. Can you blame them? I mean look at this sweet face…

In just over a week I’ll be leaving, on a jet plane…but I will be back again! I’m just going to visit with my dear friend and fellow photographer Connie Groah in Annapolis for some much needed R&R. Of course one can’t really run away for some R&R without thoroughly wearing herself out before hand. So in keeping with that theory I’ve managed to schedule myself back to back sessions for the next ten days along with mountains of proofing that must be tackled before I can take off on my little adventure. Not to worry, Kelly will be available to answer questions and inquiries while I’m running around like a mad woman. I hear she’s got something totally cute in the works for this coming week’s Trendy Tuesday too!

Last week I traveled to the middle-of-no-where which, according to google maps is somewhere in North Cape Coral. *grin* The plan was visit with, and of course photograph, one very sweet two month old baby girl. Of course the instant I met little Zoee I knew it had been worth the drive, isn’t she precious?! I just had to pop in and sneak peek a few for Mom and Dad as soon as I could.

Last week I had the opprotunity to spend time with Taiya at her Estero home. Such a beautiful little lady and so well behaved. It just so happens Taiya’s Daddy is in the watermellon industry so capturing his little cutie amongst the juicy watermellons was pretty high on Mom’s list of must-have-shots. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how I’d be able to pull this one off, I’ve photographed babies on guitars, babies on bookshelves, babies on the mantel, but watermellons was a first for me. Thankfully little Taiya was more than happy to pose for the shot, I think she was even giving the watermellon a big hug. ha ha So cute!

Gosh, look at those lips, I’m so jealous! Taiya you are gorgeous! Mom, your proofs will be ready very soon.
