Oh gosh, I don’t even know where to start. I’ve been photographing this family since 2005, little Kevin wasn’t quite a year old for our first session together. Through the years Mom and I have developed a friendship and often joke about Kevin growing up to marry my little Olivia, with their matching blonde hair, big baby blues, and sweet disposition we feel quite certain it would be a winning combination, of course only time will tell.
This year our goal was to capture some amazing brother and sister moments on the beach. You know, at least one of those photographs that like you might see on a Hallmark card, something they could look back on years from now that would be a sweet reminder of their annual trips to Naples. You know where this is going don’t you?
Kids are unpredictable at best and I don’t think any of us expected sweet little Riley to give a such a swift yank to Kevin’s hair mid-giggle. Of course having watched my own daughter blindside her brothers a time or two I’m fairly certain it’s just the nature of siblings. No worries, Kevin was a good sport, I think his pride was hurt more than anything and Mom was quick to console. (Side note: See Mom’s lovely white dress, she wasn’t part of the session but she knows me well enough by now to know that I’ll shoot whatever moves me and always dresses to match the children ‘just in case’. Smart lady!)
Thinking that it might be best to postpone our Hallmark moment for a little while, I decided to try and capture some individual shots of the kids for mom. Then, after a little game of tag, some hide and seek, a chorus or two of Itsy-Bitsy-Spider and we were back in business.
I positioned Kevin next to this big tree to get a few individual shots and guess who decided to walk right up and plop herself down beside him? Riley of course! There was no way she was going to let big brother steal the spotlight. *giggle* I absolutely adore the look they’re giving each other in this shot.

When we’d all but given up hope on getting the shot – it took less than 10 seconds to get this.

Feeling rather accomplished, we decided to release them from their modeling contract…at least until our next session together.
