Sneak Peek { Judson & Paisley } | Naples Family Beach Portraits

You’ll probably recognize these little cuties from numerous blog posts over the years. Paisley was one of my very first JOY babies and when little Judson came along I was completely thrilled to have the opportunity to capture his first year as well. We decided a family session on the beach would be the perfect way to celebrate Judson’s first birthday. Little did we know there would be so many cold snaps in South Florida this year. Thankfully, our patience paid off with the reward of sunny skies and beautiful family memories captured.

Happy belated birthday to you sweet Judson!! I can’t believe it’s been one year already. What a cutie you’ve grown into too! Thank you Mom and Dad for inviting me to share these precious memories with your family. I look forward to seeing you all again real soon!!

I know, I know, how unfair of me to post and only share one! I’m sorry but I just started editing this session and the instant I saw this portrait of sweet Paisley I simply had to come to the blog and share it with you all. I’ve been photographing this little lady since she was just a few days old and yes, she has always been a truly beautiful child, inside and out but doesn’t this image just knock your socks off?! She reminds me of a movie star… Shirley Temple maybe? No, Paisley has those big beautiful blue eyes. I can’t put my finger on it yet but she definitely has those classic 1950’s style good looks. Wonder if Mom is considering getting this little one into child modeling? She’s a natural!

Okay, back to editing I go! I promise to come back and share more from my session with Paisley (and her baby brother!!) very soon!

As promised, I’m back to share some of Paisley’s adorable baby brother, Judson, after all this was his JOY session. Being a lifeXpressions JOY baby means that I get to visit every few months to document all of those exciting things going on during his first year. (Hint: If you give a little click right here you’ll see just how much Judson’s grown since his newborn session.) Judson is such a HAPPY baby which is evident in the photographs I captured during our session. I think the only challenge in photographing him is keeping him off the photographer’s lap! haha Such a little sweetie! Enjoy your sneak peek Mom, it’s just the beginning!

One way, or another, I’m gonna find ya….I’m gonna getchya, getchya, getchya! *grin*…and what kind of photographer would I be if I didn’t share one of the two of them…

Summer is full speed ahead in the land of lifeXpressions which is making it more of a challenge to post regular sneak peeks to the blog but I thought sharing a featured session might make up for it just a little bit.

Allow me to introduce to you Sophia, the most recent graduate of our Just One Year program. It’s always such a joy for me, personally, to get to know these families over the course of the year and document these special moments for them. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, one of my all time favorite parts of this ‘job’ is the people, the families that have chosen me to document those special moments in their lives time and time again. I’m posting tonight to introduce one of my newest JOY Babies, Judson. Big sister Paisley just recently graduated from JOY program herself, she was always such a charmer during each of our sessions together so of course I am eagerly anticipating the next year with her baby brother!

Paisley’s turning two next month so of course I had to capture a few photos of the birthday girl! Don’t you just love her dress!? Besides being totally cute, the dress also holds a lot of sentimental meaning for Paisley’s Mom since she wore it herself at the same age. What a brilliant idea to bring it out during our session together!

They say one of the things that sets the professional photographer apart from the hobbiest is the ability to recreate an image at any time. Largely because the professional photographer shoots with intent. The images captured are not meerly lucky shots. If asked, the photographer can recreate an image because he (or she!) has an understanding of the fundimental elements of lighting and composition required to make it happen. This is not to say that every image captured can be reproduced, obviously there are other factors to take into consideration, but in a controlled environment it should be a fairly simple task to accomplish. Are you wondering why I brought this up in the middle of a Judson’s newborn photographs? Apart from the fact that I am often asked to recreate images for clients based on something they fell in love with in my portfolio, Judson’s Mommy also hoped I’d be able to recreate an image I took of Paisley as a newborn almost 2 years ago. Considering I hadn’t seen the exact image she wanted in quite some time I was really pleased with how similar they are. Hopefully Mom will be happy with the results too!

Introducing Paisley {Then & Now}

I first had the opportunity to work with Paisley when she was just a few days old. As a member of the Just One Year program she’s become a fairly regular star here on the blog. Now at a year old she just recently graduated from the JOY program, I have to say, I am going to miss our regular play dates. It has been so much fun watching her blossom into this beautiful, playful little lady and Mom always has the CUTEST outfits for her!

We asked Paisley’s Mom to answer a few questions for the blog, here’s what she had to say:

What is your favorite children’s boutique?

“Children’s Couture, Fort Myers”

Photographs are important to me because…

“They Capture the moment that is gone in the blink of an eye. My baby is only as small as she is today. Tomorrow she will be bigger.”

A night out with the children? It can be done! What is your favorite child-friendly restaurant?

“First Watch – We get a cool placemat, crayons, and our very own cup. Of course the pancakes are our favorite! Mimi’s Cafe’ is great too. Their kids meal comes with oreo dirt dessert complete with worms! (Gummy ones, of course!)”

Mom’s need TLC too, where do you go to be pampered?

“Spada, Fort Myers”

Often family traditions are handed down through the years, others we start ourselves. What are your favorite family traditions?

“Family dinners, letters from Santa, church on Sundays. A very specific one, we save our Christmas cards & every night at dinner during our blessing we say a prayer for family.”

What do you love about lifeXpressions? { Hey, you know you would ask too! }.

“Aside from Terrilyn being an outstanding photographer ( she really captures the everyday love). I really think lifeXpressions is a first class operation. I love the little things: the Christmas ornament, the accordion mini books, the stuffed dog goodie-bag she brought to the promotional mini sessions, even the cute tissue paper that comes in the photo boxes. My husband jokes that you are like chocolate – once you get a little you just can’t stop!!”

Note from Terrilyn: Alright, that seriously has to be the BEST compliment I’ve ever received – comparing me to chocolate – ha ha ha I love it!! Thank you for your sweet, sweet words. I can’t wait to see you all again!

Who’s birthday is it anyway?!

Sometimes I just crack myself up .

It’s Paisley’s birthday!! Yep, another JOY baby turned one!! Paisley is a girl on the move – she wasn’t completely able to walk on her own yet as of our session but she could sure move fast! Some of her many talents include, stair climbing, doggy catching, modeling, and she even plays piano. Not too shabby for someone who’s only had a year to practice!

Happy birthday sweetie!

The latest Naples Graduate…

No, not that kind of graduate! I mean the latest graduate of the JOY program!

Alec is one year old!

This little man is just a complete joy to photograph, all you have to do is say hi to him and he lights up.

It’s hard to say goodbye. I’ve really enjoyed spending the last year with Alec and his family and I am certainly going to miss seeing his smiling face every couple months – and his sister too!!

I have three Just One Year graduates this month! What does that mean for me? Lots of hugs and saying goodbye for now. I hope that my JOY members will continue to call for those special times as their babies turn into toddlers and preschoolers! What does this mean for lifeXpressions? The completion of these JOY programs also means for the first time in many months I am accepting new babies into the Just One Year program! I love meeting new people and babies are my favorite kind of people!

Paisley is not only a member of my JOY (Just One Year) program, she is also a complete JOY to photograph!! She was full of smiles and giggles the day of our session. They really don’t get much cuter do they? Her eyes, her smile, the WAY-TOO-CUTE expressions, she looks like a little doll. I could photograph her all day.
